For many centuries
there was intense seaborne trading activity between Asia and Africa, and this
is illustrated in an exceptional manner by the architecture and urban structure
of the Stone Town. This contact left an outstanding material manifestation of
cultural fusion and harmonization. For these reasons, the Stone Town city of
Zanzibar was designated as the UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. The City Tour
is a half day walking tour where you can experience the tangible history of
Zanzibar. Our guide will take you and give information to the most of the
important buildings and historical monuments such as the House of wonders,
Hamamni bath, the famous slave trader’s house (Tip Tip house), Anglican Cathedral
(former slave market), the Old Fort, Darajani market, the home of world’s
famous musician - Freddy Mercury. Through your walk you will be impressed by
the architecture and stylish Zanzibar doors which revealed the cosmopolitan
nature of the Island, where by the Portuguese, Persians, Arabs, Sultans of Oman
and English all had their influence in different time. On your walk you will
also see curio shops, bazaars, souvenirs stores and restaurants. Welcome to our
Stone Town City Tour, “the place where
History is still living”
