For many centuries there was intense seaborne trading activity between Asia and Africa, and this is illustrated in an exceptional manner by the architecture and urban structure of the Stone Town. This contact left an outstanding material manifestation of cultural fusion and harmonization. For these reasons, the Stone Town city of Zanzibar was designated as the UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. The City Tour is a half day walking tour where you can experience the tangible history of Zanzibar. Our guide will take you and give information to the most of the important buildings and historical monuments such as the House of wonders, Hamamni bath, the famous slave trader’s house (Tip Tip house), Anglican Cathedral (former slave market), the Old Fort, Darajani market, the home of world’s famous musician - Freddy Mercury. Through your walk you will be impressed by the architecture and stylish Zanzibar doors which revealed the cosmopolitan nature of the Island, where by the Portuguese, Persians, Arabs, Sultans of Oman and English all had their influence in different time.
