JOZANI FOREST

The Jozani Forest Reserve was established during 1960’s and the conservation area was also successfully gazetted as a National Park in 2004. The total Forest area is bout 50km² and remains as the only National Park in Zanzibar. This guided tour at Jozani Forest is divided into two main parts; the first part is at the Ground Water Forest where is the home of different plants like Red Mahogany  and animals like Red Colobus monkeys(endemic specie to Zanzibar), Zanzibar Sykes’ monkeys, Bush babies and Duikers. the second part is Coastal Forest (Mangroves and Salt marsh). Where you can see the crabs and mollusks through the excellent wooden walk.
